Suju is a Chinese-born, British-raised artist currently living and working in south-east London.
“My creative practice is always evolving. It currently centres around drawing and tattooing.
Inspiration can come from anywhere; often I find it in the natural world, traditional Chinese art, my imagination, and popular motifs in tattoo culture amongst many other visual influences.
I am self-taught. I began learning to tattoo in 2019 and since then have steadily become more committed to the practice. Throughout my tattooing journey I have found a lot of joy and fulfillment in the craft, as well as finding a renewed sense of purpose to my art in the process.
Tattooing has historically functioned as a means of telling stories of culture and identity. I work with the awareness of the spiritual significance of the craft, and with a gratitude for every individual I work with for trusting me to bring my vision into reality.”
